Leisha Hailey
Leisha Hailey ( born July 11, 1971 in Okinawa, Japan) is an American actress and musician.
Hailey grew up in Bellevue, a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska and attended Bellevue West High School. After high school, she studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and completed her education from 1991. She started her career as a musician of the band The Murmurs and released several albums; parallel to it she played supporting roles in several films. She was a few years the partner of musician kd Lang and since 2001, a relationship with the fashion designer Nina Garduno and engaged. In September 2011, it became public knowledge that Leisha is in a relationship with her bandmate Camila Grey, as both were escorted from a plane because of a kiss.
Musician
On the New York drama school learned Hailey 1991 know her colleague Heather Grody and founded with her the folk duo The Murmurs. Both played guitar and sang on several gigs in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the East Village and published in 1992 her independent album Who We Are. In 1994, she signed a recording contract with MCA Records and moved to Los Angeles, California.
By 1998, three more albums, one of which Blender is the best known. The title of this album Squeezebox Days appeared on the soundtrack of the film All Over Me, appeared in the Hailey in 1997 in a supporting role; two members of the first all-female U.S. band The Go- Gos were involved in Blender, and beyond some of the songs were produced by kd Lang. In 2001, Hailey and Grody changed the band name to Gush.
Since January 2008, together with Hailey Camila Grey, the band Uh Huh Her. Their first EP they released on July 27 I See Red Hailey plays bass, guitar, keyboards and sings.
Actress
Your acting career began in 1997 when Hailey with Ellen DeGeneres got a small role in the coming out episode of the American sitcom Ellen. In the same year she was awarded the supporting role of the lesbian punk girl Lucy in the film All Over Me, which was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award. Hailey also turned commercials for Yoplait and BMW and had guest roles in series such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Boy meets world and Grey's Anatomy.
In Germany Hailey became known as bisexual journalist Alice Pieszecki in the U.S. television series The L Word. She was last seen in 2011 on the side of become known by the Queer as Folk series Gale Harold in Fertile Ground thriller.
