Leitner Group

The Leitner AG, headquartered in Sterzing in South Tyrol is a company that operates in the ropeway construction and in the field of environmental technology.

History

After the founding of the company by Gabriel Leitner in 1888, the company had a later build the first cable car in Europe from Bolzano to Colle in 1908. In 1925, the workshop was expanded from its initial ten employees to a plant with series production of agricultural machinery. When, after the second world war, the tourism in the Alps and thus the development of the mountains an ever bigger issue was the company of material ropeways saddled over to the passenger transportation.

Since 1970, the Leitner AG also produces snowcats.

In 1993, the building contractor Michael Seeber, the majority of Leitner AG and could make it one of the world's leading cable car builders through acquisitions and mergers:

On 20 February 2007 Leitner CEO Michael Seeber was honored with the "Glory of the Province of Tyrol ".

Projects

The Leitner AG projects realized worldwide, such as the Leitner Skyliner for the Expo 2000 in Hanover, the Mini Metro for public transport of Perugia, the funicular railway Val Gardena Ronda Express of Santa Cristina, the Innsbruck Hungerburgbahn and the Ngong Ping 360, a the largest cable cars in the world ( 5.7 km ), which connects Hong Kong Tung Chung to Ngong Ping and his big Buddha statue.
