LeMoine Batson

LeMoine Batson ( born August 6, 1898 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin as La Moine H. Batson, † January 30, 1991 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American ski jumper.

Batson began in 1917 with the active ski jumping and was a member of the first U.S. Ski Team for the Olympics. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 in Chamonix, he reached the 14th place with jumps of 42.5 and 43.5 m. 1932 was again taken up into the squad, but did not start there. With the establishment of the Central United States Ski Association, he was the first chairman and president in 1939 and 1940. In 1969, he was inducted into the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. After his playing career, he also worked as a teacher of sports at the Morton East High School in Chicago. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame his home club Eau Clair Ski Club in 1989. At the age of 92 years Batson died on 30 January 1991 at Hinsdale Hospital in Chicago.
