Lemon squeezer (rock formation)

The Lemon Squeezer is an unusual rock formation in Harriman State Park in upstate New York. It is located at the foot of Iceland Pond Mountain at the intersection of the Appalachian Trail ( marking: white) with the Arden -Sure Bridge Trail (mark: red triangle).

The trail leads you past under a gigantic boulder that rests precariously on another rock. After passing this point is clear where the Lemon Squeezer ( in German: lemon squeezer ) takes its name: The Wanderer has to suddenly squeeze through a path that is one meter high and 30 inches wide and has a pitch of 15 degrees. Beyond lie more interesting rock formations: pine trees growing on a thin rock roof above the path ( in the picture ).
