Lempel–Ziv–Storer–Szymanski

Lempel -Ziv - Storer - Szymanski algorithm ( LZSS ) is an algorithm for lossless data compression on the basis of LZ77. It was published in 1982 by James A. Storer and Thomas G. Szymanski in the Journal of the ACM, a journal of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Material Change of LZSS over LZ77 is the insertion of a flag, a distinction is made between the current in the output string reference and single character (" literal" ), while LZ77 is fixed by means of the triples notation on the issue of string references.

Strongly based on LZSS is the Lempel -Ziv - Stac algorithm.
