Lemuel Francis Abbott

Lemuel Francis Abbott (* 1760 or 1761 probably in the county of Leicestershire ( England); † December 5, 1802 in London) was an English portrait painter.

Life

Lemuel Francis Abbott was probably the son of the most active in the county of Leicestershire in central England cleric and poet Lemuel Abbott († April 1776 ) and his wife Mary. However, he received his first artistic training in 1775 in the British capital with the painter Francis Hayman, it could not complete because his teacher previously died (February 2, 1776). So he returned to his parents, but probably more portrait studies have graduated with Joseph Wright of Derby.

But he called his partner in his will of October 1800 as " beloved wife " and used them as the heir. Two years later he died at his home, which was located in the Penton Street in just north of central London, located district of Islington.

Work
