Lene Marlin

Lene Marlin ( bürgerl.: Lene Marlin Pedersen ) ( born August 17, 1980 in Tromsø) is a Norwegian writer of songs and pop singer.

Youth and first success

Lene was given her first guitar at the age of 15 years. She taught first played self-written songs for their friends and family. In the summer of 1997 was the largest radio station in Norway, NRK, sent a cassette with Lene pieces and then invited her to a recording. This recording helped her to her first record deal with Virgin.

During her Abitur she recorded her debut album Playing My Game. The first single, Unforgivable Sinner became a hit in their home country and held for two months at the top of the charts. The next single release, Sitting Down Here, had similar success. The release of the album Playing My Game has sold 1.8 million copies worldwide and reached platinum in several European countries.

You just held style, personal lyrics and catchy tunes resulted in the success of the now living in Oslo artist. She was honored at the 1999 MTV Europe Music Awards as Best Scandinavian artists. This was followed by a break, where she retired from public life.

The next albums

After almost five years break she finally succeeded in 2003 with the album Another Day a remarkable comeback. The first single, You Were not There succeeded in many countries, including Norway, were in the first week of the leap to number 1 The commercial success was with 600,000 copies sold worldwide, however not as overwhelming as in their debut album.

The third album Lost In A Moment with the single How Would It Be was released in 2005. The work remained commercially seen behind the two predecessors. In her native Norway it did not reach number one, but only fourth place for the first time. However, Marlin reached a solid placements in the charts in Switzerland and Italy.

A year later they recorded the song Avalon together with the Swiss band Lovebugs. In Switzerland and in Norway, the song was able to place in the charts. Then it was quiet around the artist. For a bit of a stir caused by the fact that she co-wrote the title song to Rihanna's album Good Girl Gone Bad 2007. She also sang a duet ( All gone ) with the band Marquess published on their summer 2008 album ¡ Ya!.

Nearly four years after Lost In A Moment end of March 2009 Marlins fourth studio album, Twist The Truth, published in Norway, Germany, the album was released in mid-August of this year. The first single from the album Here We Are reached number 6 of the Norwegian singles chart and became at the local radio stations the most played song by a Norwegian artist. You Could Have been decoupled in June 2009 as a download single. In the following years, Marlin devoted again to writing songs for other artists. From this work, the duet Worth It originated with Aleksander With, which reached third place in the Norwegian charts.
