Lennart Samuelsson

Lennart Samuelsson (* July 7, 1924 in Borås, Sweden, † November 27, 2012 in Borlänge, Sweden) was a Swedish football player and coach.

Career

Playing career

After Samuelsson played in several small clubs in his hometown, he moved in 1947 to IF Elfsborg, where he made his debut in Allsvenskan. In 1950 he was transferred for a season to OGC Nice, the 1951, he was champion of France. Then he returned to IF Elfsborg back to Sweden.

Samuelsson was 36 times the Swedish national team. He took part in the World Cup 1950, in which he finished third with the state selection. After moving to France, he was no longer considered as a professional player. After his return to Sweden in 1951 he received amateur status again and was thus at the 1952 Olympics eligible to play and took the team bronze.

Coaching career

After his retirement Samuelsson moved to the dugout. His first engagement was to IFK Luleå in the Division 2 in 1963 he went to IK Brage, with which he ascended into the Allsvenskan 1965. Later he left the club and went to league rivals Örebro SK. Until 1970, he oversaw the club in the first division and returned to IK Brage. He worked there until 1973.

Later he was employed by the city of Borlänge. There he died on 27 November 2012 at the age of 88 years.
