Lennart Skoglund

Karl Lennart Skoglund, nicknamed " Nacka ", ( born December 24, 1929 in Stockholm, † 8 July 1975 ) was a Swedish football player.

Career

The striker Lennart Skoglund was one of the great stars of European football in the 1950s. Between 1944 and 1949 he played with Hammarby IF and had his first international grand entrance after his move to AIK Solna at the World Cup 1950 in Brazil. After this World Cup, he moved to Italy's Serie A and was a professional footballer with Inter Milan. 1953 and 1954 he was with Inter Italian masters. In total, he played 246 games for Inter, scoring 57 goals.

After Sweden could not qualify for the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, Skoglund celebrated at the 1958 World Cup in his own country his greatest success in the national team: He was vice-champion. His only goal at this World Cup, he scored in the semi-final 3-1 win over defending champions Germany.

After 13 years in the Italian professional league, where he played after his time at Inter or Sampdoria and Palermo, he returned to his home to Hammarby IF and finished there in 1964 his great career.

His grave is in the cemetery Skogskyrkogården.
