Lennie Pond

Lennie Pond ( born August 11, 1940 in Ettrick, Virginia ) is a retired American racing driver from 1969 to 1989 in the highest division of NASCAR, today's Sprint Cup, started.

In the years 1969 and 1970 Pond participated in only one race. After two years break, he decided to drive a big part of the race of the 1973 season. Nine times he came in the top -10 finish and once in the top fifth These achievements were enough to win the NASCAR Rookie of the Year Award 1973. His first and only victory he brought on 6 August 1978 at the Talladega 500 at Alabama International Motor Speedway, known as Talladega Superspeedway today. Until 1985 he took part in every season for at least ten races. In the years 1986 and 1987 he was not in the NASCAR active, 1988 and 1989, he drove only one race apiece.

Pond played in his career 234 race. He was 39 times in the top 5 and 88 times in the top 10.
