Lenny Castro

Lenny Castro ( born January 12, 1950 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is an American percussionist and session musician.

Career

At the age of 15 years, Castro began playing congas from fiberglass. He learned to play by watching musicians in the New York park. His influences were mainly in the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Armando Peraza, Mongo Santamaría and Willie Bobo. Later, Castro moved to Los Angeles, where he successfully entered the local music scene.

Castro is a sought after studio musician. Him it is thanks to that percussion is an important part also in the rock and pop music. Well-known artists and groups with whom he collaborated in the studio, among other things, Gossip, The Rolling Stones, Toto, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Oasis and Eric Clapton. With well-known artists and bands such as Fleetwood Mac, Los Lobotomys, Karizma and Joe Bonamassa, he went on tour.
