Lenny Wilkens

Leonard Randolph Wilkens ( born October 28, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American basketball coach and former player. Between 1960 and 1975 he played in the U.S. professional league NBA teams in the St. Louis Hawks, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Portland Trail Blazers. From 1969 he worked as a coach as player-coach, from 1975. In over thirty years as an NBA coach, he won victories in 1332. This was achieved not in front of him until Don Nelson broke his record. Ironically, he also holds the NBA record with 1155 defeats. In addition to John Wooden and Bill Sharman Wilkens is the only person who has been taken up as a player and as a coach in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
