Léo Lacroix

Léo Lacroix (* November 26, 1937 in Bois- d'Amont ) is a French former alpine skier.

The greatest success of his career, he celebrated at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck, when he won the silver medal in the downhill behind the Austrian Egon Zimmermann. Two years later he was able to confirm this performance at the Alpine Ski World Championship in 1966 with two second place finishes in the downhill and in the Alpine combined. 1955, 1960 and 1963, Lacroix was French champion in slalom in 1963 he also won the downhill. In 1964 he won the Silver Belt in Sugar Bowl.

Lacroix finished his career in 1967 as a competitive athlete. The following year he was invited to the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, to speak the Olympic Oath. After his career as a ski racer himself Lacroix built an equally successful career as a holder of a ski factory.
