Leo Smit (Dutch composer)
Leo Smit, ( born May 14, 1900 in Amsterdam, † April 30, 1943 murdered in Sobibor concentration camp ) was a Dutch composer and pianist.
Biography
Leo Smit studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory composition with Sem Dresden and piano with Ulfert Schult.
Works
Smit wrote to Claude Debussy, and Albert Roussel -oriented orchestral works and chamber music. After his death, he was at first completely forgotten since the late 1980s, his works are performed regularly again.
