Leon Bibb (musician)

Leon Bibb, OBC ( born February 7, 1922 in Louisville, Kentucky ) is a folk singer and actor who grew up in Kentucky, has worked in New York City and since 1969 in Vancouver, Canada lives.

During the McCarthy era of the 1950s, Leon Bibb was - like his friend Paul Robeson - one of the U.S. entertainment artists who had to suffer because of alleged "un -American activities " under restrictions. After overcoming these obstacles Bibb published from the late 1950s to the 1970s, a large number of LPs and appeared on nationally syndicated TV shows such as " Hootenanny ".

His a cappella singing combines elements of his classical vocal training with Spiritual and blues influences.

He is the father of European-based blues singer and songwriter Eric Bibb. Meanwhile, about 1997 onset of worldwide success brought with it that father and son have since released two albums together: A Family Affair (2002) and Praising Peace - A Tribute To Paul Robeson (2006).
