Aufstellungs controversies

At the World Championship 2003 MacDonald was instead proposed as a goalkeeper as an internal three-quarters by the former assistant coach of the team behind the All Blacks, Robbie Deans. This experiment failed, however, and it was the last time that he played as an inner three-quarters.
