Leon Powe

Leon Powe, Jr. ( born January 22, 1984 in Oakland, California ) is a player of the American Basketball professional league NBA.

Life

Leon Powe grew up in the suburb of San Francisco, Oakland. Oakland is a place with high crime and poverty rates. Powes father left the family when he was two years old. As Powe was seven years old burned down the family home, and she had to live on the streets for many years. After some time the State Leon took away his mother, and took him to a foster family. His career with significant support from the U.S. sports TV channel ESPN.

High School Career

Leon Powe attended Oakland Technical High School where he graduated in the season of his senior year, an average of 27.4 points, 14.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocks. With Powe in the Oakland series, it was possible for the team to win the CIF Championship and Oakland possible for Powe to participate in several other tournaments. 4 days before Powe participated in the state championship, his mother died.

College career

Powe played during his college time for the Californian Golden Bears, there was also very successful, but failed due to a serious knee injury playing for extended periods. When he was fit again, he impressed with average 20.5 points and 10.1 rebounds average. He was elected MVP of California.

Professional career

In 2006, Leon Powe decided to sign up for the NBA Draft 2006. He was gedrafted in the second round by the Denver Nuggets and 49ster place. The Nuggets were trading him pretty quickly to the Boston Celtics. After playing in the summer season for the Celtics, he signed a 3 year contract with Boston.

Powe played the 2006-07 season as a rookie in fourth place behind Kendrick Perkins, Brian Scalabrine and Michael Olowokandi. Through a series of injuries in the squad of the Boston Celtics Powe played more often, and was able to show how good he is. He finished the season with 4.2 points, 3.4 rebounds in an average of 11 minutes.

2007-08 season The 2007-08 season was a breakthrough for Leon Powe. First he scored 29 January 2008 24 points and 11 rebounds, and later on 16 April of the same year, he scored 27 points, his personal best, against the New Jersey Nets. In the second game of the NBA Finals in 2008 against the Los Angeles Lakers, he scored 21 points in just 15 minutes, while the crowd shouted his name. Boston won that evening, 8 June 2008, with 108-102 points.

2008-09 season On 13 March 2009 he exhibited with 30 points in the game against the Memphis Grizzlies a Karrierebestmarke, in this category.

2009-10 season On August 12, 2009 Powe signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

2010-11 season On March 5, Powe signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, after the Cleveland Cavaliers have deleted it due to overcapacity from their roster ..
