Leon Taylor

Leon Roy Taylor ( born November 2, 1977 in Cheltenham ) is a former British diver. He started for the club City of Sheffield Diving Club in the disciplines of 10 m tower and synchronized diving. Taylor came up with eight years on the swimming and gymnastics for water jumping.

He participated in three Olympic Games. In Atlanta in 1996, he came in the 10-meter platform diving at rank 18, 2000 in Sydney, he came in the same competition in 13th place and was with Peter Waterfield in the 10m synchronized diving Fourth, in Athens in 2004, he was in high diving sixth and won with Waterfield the silver medal. The duo won it the first British Olympic medal in Diving since Brian Phelps in 1960.

At World Swimming Championships starting in 1994, Taylor took part. At the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, he won the bronze medal in Waterfield 10m synchronized diving. Taylor was able to win medals at European Swimming Championships also. In Istanbul in 1999 and 2000 in Helsinki, he achieved the bronze medal each in the 10-meter synchronized diving.

In the 10 m- high diving, he won bronze in 1998 and silver at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Taylor is also a multiple British Champion.

Originally Taylor wanted to continue his career up to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, but injuries forced him to end his career before the games. Today, he commented as an expert Diving transfers and is also an ambassador for the 2012 Games in London.
