Leonard Berkowitz

Leonard " Len " Berkowitz ( born August 11, 1926) is an American social psychologist who deals with human aggression.

Life and work

His Ph.D. in psychology, he receives in 1951 by the University of Michigan.

Berkowitz uses a cognitive- neoassoziationistischen approach and provides 1974 his frustration- fixation hypothesis ( an evolution of the frustration-aggression hypothesis) before. He distinguishes here between instrumental and impulsive aggression.

Currently, he is Vilas Research Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
