Leonardo Genoni

Leonardo Genoni ( born August 28, 1987 in Semione ) is a Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender, who has a contract with HC Davos since the 2007 /08 season.

Career

Leonardo Genoni began his career at the GCK Lions and played for the elite A-Juniors or for the juniors of the GCK Lions. In the season 2003/ 04 he gave both his debut in the National League A for the ZSC Lions, as well as his National League B debut for the partner GCK Lions Club.

In the following three seasons, he has been employed either in the NLB at the GCK Lions or the ZSC Lions in the NLA. In the season 2006/ 07 he graduated also three games for the Swiss U20 national team in the NLB. After the Spengler Cup denied for HC Davos in 2006, he signed a contract in January 2007 in Davos, where Jonas Hiller was goalkeeper in the NHL before his departure. When HCD he developed within a season to a solid NLA goalkeeper and was rewarded in October 2008 with the award for " Newcomer of the Year ".

Internationally

Leonardo Genoni has been used several times in junior national teams of Switzerland. His first major tournament he graduated in 2004 at the U18 World Cup group B, where the Swiss junior managed to move up to the A group. A year later he was in both the U18 and U20 in the World Cup squad in Switzerland. In the U-20 World Cup in 2006 he formed together with Reto Berra the Torhüterduo the Swiss national team. Last convinced Leonardo Genoni also on his international debut when he was able to immediately record a shutout.
