Leonardo Mayer

Leonardo Martin Mayer ( born May 15, 1987 in Corrientes ) is an Argentine tennis player.

Life and career

2005 Mayer began to play regularly Future tournaments and in his first real season as a professional he managed a victory in Santiago in this tournament class.

The next year he played already regularly at Challenger with and reached the finals in Puebla, which he lost to Robert Kendrick.

After a moderate start to the season in the 2007 season with four defeats in a series opener, Mayer erfangte. At the end of the year he was to be found after two tournament victories in the top 200 ( 189) in the world rankings.

2008 Leonardo Mayer reached a fairly regular basis at least the quarter-finals of the Challenger Tournaments and could also in Kitzbühel at an ATP tournament in the first round to survive. In the end he was able to celebrate a tournament win at the Challenger in Medellin and the 102nd place in the ATP world rankings.

In the next year, he achieved a breakthrough with wins against established players like Carlos Moyá, Igor Andreev, Mardy Fish and James Blake. Highlights of the season were the opening three victories at Grand Slam tournaments and the semi-finals in Los Angeles. This year he was able to complete in the top 100 with the help of these successes.
