Leonberg is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate Tirschenreuth and since 1974 a member of the administrative community Mitterteich.

Geography

Geographical location

The community is located between the cities Mitter Pond, Forest aces and Tirschenreuth. From lying on a hillside village itself offers a wide view over the Wondrebsenke.

History

Leonberg in its present form was created on 1 April 1971 through the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Leonberg, Great Lake and Pfaffenreuth. Leonberg and Great Lake have traditionally been more influenced by agricultural, the economic focus in Pfaffenreuth formed the mine Bayerland. There the 1970s pyrite was sponsored to start.

Argent, a growing red dragon with a black hammer in the mouth, covered with a lowered blue wave beams.

Meaning of the coat of arms

The red dragon is the emblem of the monastery forest Assen. He points to the relations of the church to the monastery, dating back to 1243. The hammer is the symbol of the mining, the main thing in Pfaffenreuth operated, and the blue bar on the river Wondreb, which flows through the municipal area.
