Leones de Ponce (baseball)

The Leones de Ponce are a professional baseball team in the Puerto Rico Baseball League ( PRBL ), headquartered in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The Leones have a total of eleven times, won the national championship, including the only team to four consecutive titles ( 1942-1945 ). In 1972 they succeeded, the victory in the Serie del Caribe.

The Leones de Ponce belong together with the Indios de Mayagüez to the only teams in the league who have participated in all seasons since 1938. To this day, once in the league of winning four consecutive league title is the beginning of the 1940s under George " Tubby " Scales, a manager of the Negro Leagues. Recently won the Leones in the final of the 2008/2009 season with 4-1 games against the Lobos de Arecibo.

Home of the Leones, the 1949 opened the Estadio Francisco Montaner, which seats 16,000 spectators.
