Leonid Leonov
Leonid Maximowitsch Leonov (Russian Леонид Максимович Леонов, scientific transliteration Leonid Leonov Maksimovič; * 19 Maijul / May 31 1899greg in Moscow, .. † August 8, 1994 ) was a Russian writer and playwright.
His childhood and his boyhood was spent partly in Moscow, partly in the village Poluchino of the government of Kaluga. Even as a fifteen-year high school student, he began to write poetry. He graduated in 1918 and worked during the Civil War as a correspondent. For his novel The Russian Forest he received in 1957 as the first narrator of the Lenin Prize. He is sometimes compared with Sholokhov or Dostoyevsky.
