Leopold Grützmacher

Leopold Griitzmacher ( born September 4, 1835 in Dessau, † February 26, 1900 in Weimar ) was a German cellist and composer.

The younger brother of Friedrich Griitzmacher was a member of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, then principal cellist of the court orchestra Schwerin, at the State Theatre in Prague and then to the court orchestra in Meiningen. From 1876 he was principal cellist and chamber virtuoso in Weimar.

Leopold Griitzmacher composed two cello concertos, and numerous smaller cello pieces. His son Frederick was also a cellist.
