Leopold II, Duke of Austria

Leopold II (* 1328, † August 10, 1344 ), the younger of the two sons of the Duke Otto the Merry, at the age of two years, lost his mother, Elisabeth of Bavaria, and the age of eleven his father. 16- year old, he died unexpectedly a few months before the equally sudden death of his 17- year-old brother Frederick II. Contemporaries spoke of poisoning. The succession came now instead of the sons of the late Duke Otto of the sons of his brother, Duke Albrecht II.
