Leopold Philip Montecuccoli

Leopold Philipp Fürst Montecuculi (* 1663, † January 6, 1698 ) was an Austrian general.

Career

Leopold Philipp Montecuculi was the son of the famous imperial Field Marshal Raimondo Montecuccoli and Maria Margareta von Dietrich Stein (1637-1676), daughter of Prince Max von Dietrich Stein, Lord Chamberlain of Emperor Ferdinand III.

Leopold Philipp was - like his father - a soldier in the Imperial Habsburg services. He took over after his father's death in 1680 as a colonel whose Cuirassier Regiment and rose to become Field Marshal Lieutenant. He was captain of the imperial bodyguard satellites, Chamberlain, Privy Councillor and Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece. In 1689 he was charged by the emperor in the imperial princes.

Since his marriage with the Countess Maria Antonia Colloredo remained childless, died at his death in 1698 from the royal line of Montecuculi.
