Leopold von Wiese

Leopold Max Walther von Wiese and Kaiser Waldau ( born December 2, 1876 in Glatz, † January 11, 1969 in Cologne ) was a German sociologist and economist, professor and chairman of the German Sociological Association (DGS ).

Life

Leopold von Wiese was the only son of a Prussian officer who died and received his education at the cadet schools in Wahlstatt and lights field, where he spent nearly eight extremely unhappy years before he could leave the cadet corps. He then studied economics at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin and was there in 1902, Dr. phil. doctorate. Subsequently, he was scientific secretary of the "Institute for the common good " in Frankfurt am Main. In 1905 he was a lecturer in economics at the University of Berlin. Appointed in 1906 as professor of political science at the Royal Academy in Poznan, he joined in 1908 as professor of economics and business economics at the Technical University of Hanover. Wiese is known for his works on social theory. He tried to establish the sociology of the present as an independent social science, divorced from history, psychology and philosophy.
