Leopoldo Federico

Leopoldo Federico ( born January 12, 1927 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player.

Federico had lessons with Felix Lipesker, Carlos Marcucci and later Francisco Requena. In 1944, he contributed to recordings of the orchestra of Juan Carlos Cobián. A short time he played in the orchestras Alfredo Gobbi and Victor D' Amarios before 1946 Member of Osmar Maderna Orchestra was. The following year he joined the orchestra, Alberto Marino was founded under the leadership of Emilio Balcarce. He also collaborated with Mariano Mores and Héctor Stamponi, Carlos Di Sarli with later, Osvaldo Manzi, Lucio Demare and Horacio Salgán.

In 1952 he formed a duo with pianist Atilio Stampone. With the singers Antonio Rodríguez Reading and Carlos Fabri they performed arrangements by Argentino Galván. In the same year appeared the label TK tangos Tierrita and Criolla linda. In 1955 he became the successor of Roberto Pansera Astor Piazzolla Octeto in Buenos Aires. He continued to work as a companion of the singer Julio Sosa, with whom he recorded 64 tracks for CBS Columbia, and played their first recordings in 1959 as head of his own orchestra one.

After the death of Federico Sosa collaborated with numerous other soloists, together with the guitarist Roberto Grela in Cuarteto San Telmo and with the singers Carlos Gari, Roberto Ayala, Laura Esquivel, Aldo Fabré, Mariano Leyes, Carlos Alcorta, Yoichi Suigawara and Eino Gron. Federico's more than fifty compositions have been performed among others by Astor Piazzolla, Osvaldo Pugliese and Horacio Salgán and their orchestras.
