Leopoldo Luque

Leopoldo Jacinto Luque ( May 3, 1949 in Santa Fe ) is a former Argentine footballer.

He played in his career, among other things, for Unión de Santa Fe, Rosario Central, CA River Plate and Racing Club de Avellaneda. The striker was first appointed in 1975 in the Argentine national team and took part in the Copa América 1975. There was four scorer, although Argentina was eliminated in the first round already. Luque became established in the following years in the attack of the South Americans. It was therefore no surprise that the striker River Plate was appointed to the World Cup squad for Argentina Football World Cup 1978 in their own country.

Luque thanked his coach César Luis Menotti, with four goals in five appearances. Winning the World Cup 1978, for him the absolute peak of his career dar. He played until 1981 for the national team. He did not succeed then, to recommend themselves for the football World Cup in Spain in 1982 or again aground for Argentina. Overall, he scored 22 goals in 45 appearances for Argentina.

His last years as a professional footballer were characterized by numerous club change. After he had tried in 1983 and 1984 with FC Santos in Brazil, he returned in 1984 for one year again to Argentina and played for Deportivo textile Mandiyú.
