Monteleone from the Simplon Pass
The used particularly in Italian and French and after SOIUSA name Lepontine Alps includes the mountain ranges between the Simplon Pass in the west, the Splügenpass to the east and the Italian Lakes in the south. The name is derived from the Lepontiern, a living on the upper Rhône and the Ticino in ancient people, whose main town Oscellä, today Domodossola was.

- South: here is the Insubric line about the line Cento Valli - follows San Jorio pass, the separation of the Lugano Prealps - Locarno - Bellinzona.
