Leppin is a district of the city Arendsee ( Altmark) in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The place Leppin in the Altmark is located about 20 km southwest of Wittenberg and 10 km south-east of the Lower Saxon border. Leppin is crossed by the highway 190 ( Salzwedel -Seehausen ( Altmark) ) and had in the district Harpe a breakpoint at the 2004 set railway Salzwedel - Wittenberg. The district is mostly forested and only a few kilometers from the west extending Arend.

History

The first written mention of the local part Harpe took place in 1319. 1807 Leppin was taken together with the entire Altmark by the French troops, the present district Zehren by the occupiers could not be traced.

Due to a change in the contract area of the municipal council decided Leppin on 18 May 2009 that the church Leppin is incorporated into the city Arendsee ( Altmark). This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

After incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality Leppin Leppin, Harpe and Zehren were districts of the city Arendsee ( Altmark). For powered finished my community the village constitution according to § § 86 et seq Municipal Code Saxony -Anhalt was introduced. The municipality is my finished Leppin and future districts Leppin, Harpe and Zehren were the village of receiving city Arendsee ( Altmark). In Leppin a Ortschaftsrat was formed with five members, including mayor.

Attractions

The Romanesque church of the Altmark village Leppin has emerged in the second half of the 13th century. In Harpe, an environment of very mature trees village, is a neo-Gothic brick church. Another neo-Gothic brick church, and thus the third sacral building is located on a hill in Zehren that is as scattered village and former Rundling five kilometers east of Leppin in the forest.
