Leroy Robertson

Leroy Robertson ( born December 21, 1896 in Fountain Green, Utah, † July 25, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah ) was an American composer.

Robertson was a student of George Whitefield Chadwick, Ernest Bloch and Hugo Leichtentritt. Since 1925, he taught at Brigham Young University, from 1948 to 1962 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

He composed two symphonies, several overtures, Prelude, Scherzo and ricercare and a Passacaglia for orchestra, a violin and a cello concerto, two piano concertos, chamber music, piano and organ pieces, the oratorio The Book of Mormon, which is considered his major work, as well as choral works and songs for the Mormon community.
