Les Arts Florissants (ensemble)

Les Arts Florissants is founded in 1979 by the conductor William Christie music ensemble, which was named after an opera by the French composer Marc- Antoine Charpentier. The British cellist of the ensemble, Jonathan Cohen, occurs increasingly as a conductor in appearance, while William Christie perceives the artistic direction.

Composition

The ensemble consists of an instrumental as well as a small- occupied vocal ensemble. All musicians also take regular solo tasks.

Performance practice and instruments

The troupe is one of the leading ensembles of historical performance practice whose aim is the time of the work listed near upcoming possible sound and style rhythm and tempi. The instruments used are therefore either originals from the respective period or exact replicas. The strings use gut strings (see baroque violin ).

Cooperation

Both the instrumental and the vocal ensemble work with other orchestras. William Christie used the vocal ensemble, for example, for productions of opera houses, orchestras, if there are special requirements to the choir.
