Les Clark

Les Clark ( born November 17, 1907 in Ogden (Utah ); † September 12, 1979 in Santa Barbara ( California)) was an American animator.

Life and work

Immediately after his graduation at the Venice High School in Los Angeles in 1927, Les Clark began working for the Walt Disney Company. At first he was in the " Ink and Paint" department employs, in the case of the former animated film production developed by the subscribers figures were transferred to slides and stained. In 1929 he obtained the production of dance of the skeletons, the first episode of the Silly Symphonies series, his first assignment as an animator. His specialty was the animation of Mickey Mouse. Outstanding here is in particular his work for the episode " The Sorcerer's Apprentice " in the film Fantasia.

Overall, Les Clark worked on nearly 20 feature-length films and more than 100 short films. He was one of Disney 's Nine Old Men and in 1989 posthumously honored as one of the Disney Legends. 1992 his services were recognized by the animated film with the Winsor McCay Award from the Asifa.
