Les Girls

The Girls is an American film musical by George Cukor from the year 1957. Was formed on a story by Vera Caspary. Alternative Film titles are girls and Les Girls - The Dancers.

Action

A book up a storm. Posted it has the former dancer Sybil, who has written in numerous anecdotes of her days as a dancer. One is that her former roommate, colleague and friend Angèle wanted to commit suicide for love of a man. But the man was not her future husband and then fiance - Angèle sued for libel Sybil now.

Rather than dismiss Sybil, now Barry takes care of them especially around and both are a couple. Sybil stops drinking and the Revue will go on tour through Europe. After Rome, Vienna and Madrid it comes to Granada, where Sybil meets her admirers and almost forgotten Fastverlobten Gerald. The Sybil wants to get back to the UK and Barry even offers a private theater for the Revue. He is not averse, but wants to be with Barry and not go back to Gerald Sybil. Because they contradict the testimony of Sybil and Angele, is heard at the end of Barry. He confirmed that all three women were employed in his revue in Paris and lived together. Since the alleged suicide has now turned out to be an accident, the lawsuit is dropped. Sybil and Angele reconcile public appeal and Barry goes to his waiting car. Drin again sitting Joy. She is now his wife and has been following the trial. Criticism

The lexicon of the International film called The girls as "the most conventional of the few [ ... ] musicals staged Cukor ". In the " female [n ] footnote to Rashomon game to the truth," working with the film " farbdramaturgisch interesting flashbacks ".

The Girls 1958 was nominated for three Academy Awards and won the award in the category " Best Costume Design".
