Les Iffs

Les Iffs is one of the many small communities of France in the department of Ille -et -Vilaine Brittany region. Les Iffs belongs to Arrondissement Rennes and Canton Bécherel.

Location

The community is only 4.52 square kilometers and is located southwest of Tinténiac to 53-141 m above sea level, and indeed west of the National Road 137 and north of the departmental road 27, it has 267 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

History

The place is first mentioned in the 12th century, when a castle was built. It was the seat of the Lords of Tinténiac. Here in 1354 Bertrand du Guesclin was knighted; Jeanne de Lavel, his second wife, whom he married in 1373, was from Montmuran. The present parish church dates back to the 15th century.
