Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie

Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie ( the most beautiful villages in Wallonia ) is a non-profit organization in Belgium, which was founded in 1994 following the French association Les plus beaux villages de France. Currently, there are 24 villages in Wallonia that carry this label ( as of December 31, 2013).

Basic requirements for inclusion in this association are:

  • The village must show a rural character.
  • In the village at least one object must be, which is a listed building
  • The village must have an architectural and urban heritage of recognizable value that is determined by this criteria specified
  • The administration and / or the local clubs of the village must demonstrate the will to maintain through concrete actions the village heritage also.

Objectives of the Association are:

  • To preserve the authenticity of the village
  • The development of a sustainable development planning
  • Strengthening the network of classified as a precious heritage villages with each other and promote their joint presentation to the outside
  • To let guarantee the preservation of the specific nature of these typical villages by various authorities

  • Province of Liège: Clermont -sur- Berwinne, Deigné, Olne, Soiron
  • Province of Luxembourg: Nobressart, Ny, Sohier, Torgny, Wéris
  • Province of Namur: Celles, Chardeneux, Crupet, Fagnolle, Falaën, Laforet, Mozet, Sosoye, Soulme, Thon -Samson, Vierves -sur- Viroin
