Les Thioleyres

Les Thioleyres was until 31 December 2011, a municipality in the district of Lavaux-Oron in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. On January 1, 2012, it merged with Oron.

Geography

Les Thioleyres is located at 700 m above sea level. M., 4 km south-southwest of Oron- la -Ville and 15 km east of the canton capital Lausanne ( straight line ). The scattered settlement municipality extends slightly increased on the southwestern edge of the broad basin of the Upper Broye, on the west slope of the Corberon, in the eastern marginal zone of Vaud Mittelland.

The area of ​​1.9 km ² large former municipal area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen in the foothills west of the Broye. The eastern boundary runs along the winding reaches of the Corberon. From here, the former communal land extends westward across the flat Talniederung and the gentile slope of Les Thioleyres up to the heights of Montagne des Carboles where 711 m above sea level. Population

With 213 inhabitants ( 31 December 2010) Les Thioleyres one of the small former municipalities of the canton of Vaud. Of the 97.7 % inhabitants are French-speaking and German-speaking 2.3 % (as of 2000). The population of Les Thioleyres amounted in 1900 to 157 inhabitants. Thereafter, through constant migration to 1980 recorded a decrease to 116 inhabitants; Since then, the population grew significantly again.

Economy

Les Thioleyres was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the crop and livestock farming have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

Traffic

The former municipality is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Oron- la -Ville to Puidoux. Les Thioleyres has no connection to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1266 under the name à la Thiolere. In Les Thioleyres was located the brickyard of the abbey skin - Cret, so the community got its name because the patois term for brick is thiols. The brickyard was in operation until 1860.

The village belonged in the Middle Ages to the possession of the abbey skin - Cret. After the conquest of Vaud by Bern Les Thioleyres came in 1557 to the Bernese bailiff Oron. After the collapse of the ancien régime, the village belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Oron.
