LessTif

LessTif is a reimplementation or clone of the Motif graphical program library. LessTif is being developed by the group The Hungry Programmers and tries to be a compatible replacement for Motif.

In contrast to the previously licensed Motif LessTif was expelled from the beginning under the GNU Lesser General Public License ( LGPL), which is far less restrictive and thus made ​​LessTif for many developers attractive. The license of Motif was the main motivation for the development of LessTif.

LessTif aims at a complete source code and binary compatibility with Motif. While this was not yet reached ( and will probably never ), but already most Motif applications running with LessTif and can thus be compiled.

Since version 2.3.4 and Motif itself was placed under the LGPL, so it is also Free / Libre Open Source Software.
