Lestards

Lestards ( Lestaurs in Occitan ) is a commune with 106 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze, in the Limousin region. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Bugeat - Sornac - Millevaches au Coeur.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central on the Plateau de Millevaches and thus also in the Regional Natural Park Millevaches en Limousin, and is crossed by the Alembre, a left tributary of the River Vézère.

Tulle, prefecture of the department, is located about 37 km south-west slightly, Égletons about 22 kilometers south-east and Ussel about 50 kilometers to the east.

Neighboring communities of Lestards are Saint-Hilaire- les- Courbes in the north, Viam in the northeast, Gourdon -Murat in the east, in the southeast as well as Pradines Treignac in the West.

The Lac de Viam is located about 10 kilometers north of Lestards.

Traffic

The village is located about 25 kilometers northwest of the exit 22 of the A89 autoroute.

History

By 1300 there was a Coming of the Antonine Order in Lestards. The Coming cared primarily about health care in the region.

Description: The coat of arms is quartered, field 1 and 4 show a green tree with red fruits about three red stars; fields 2 and 3 are each centered on a blue background with a silver tower.

  • The church of Saint -Martial, a Romanesque ecclesiastical architecture from the 12th and 13th century, modified in the 15th and 16th centuries, is classified as a monument historique since 10 March 1998.
