Lester B. Pearson School Board

The Lester B. Pearson School Board ( LBPSB, French Commission scolaire Lester - B.- Pearson ) is a public school board in the Canadian province of Québec. She is responsible for the organization of the English school curriculum in the western administrative region of Montreal and surrounding areas. It is named after the former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson.

Organization

On 1 July 1998, the course of secular education reform in Quebec the foundation of the EMSB. With this reform, the hitherto separate denominational school boards were dissolved and replaced by new ones, which are defined by linguistic and geographical criteria.

The LBPSB operates 39 elementary schools, twelve secondary schools, four vocational schools and two adult education institutions. 4,000 employees serve approximately 28,000 students. 21 school boards who are elected by the residents of assisted area, supervise the school board, with three councilors hold executive functions.

  • 9 independent communities in the administrative region of Montreal: Baie- d'Urfe, Beaconsfield, Dollard- Des Ormeaux, Dorval, Kirkland, L'Île -Dorval, Pointe -Claire, Sainte -Anne -de- Bellevue, Senneville
  • 23 municipalities in the regional county municipality of Vaudreuil - Soulanges
