Lester Germer

Lester Halbert Germer ( born October 10, 1896 in Chicago, Illinois, † October 3, 1971 in Gardiner, New York ) was an American physicist. Together with his colleague Clinton Davisson he had in 1927 for the first time experimentally the wave properties of electrons after.

Life

After graduating from Columbia University Germer worked under the supervision of Clinton Davisson at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New York City. There succeeded the two prove with an electron beam predicted by Louis -Victor de Broglie wave properties of electrons by bombarding a single crystal nickel.
