Lester L. Wolff

Lester Lionel Wolff ( born January 4, 1919 in New York City ) is an American politician. Between 1965 and 1981 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lester Lionel Wolff was born about two months after the end of World War II in New York City. He attended public schools. Between 1939 and 1941 he worked at the New York University as a lecturer, where he studied before. After the end of World War II, he was between 1945 and 1949 head of the marketing department at the Collegiate Institute. Wolff served 1945-1950 and 1968-1980 in the Civil Air Patrol. He was 1950-1964 chair the Board of Coordinated Marketing Agency. Then it was 1963 and 1964 Member of the Board of Noramco ( Dugan 's ) and 1963-1968 by the Madison Life Insurance Co. Wolff also pursued a television career over the years. He served 1948-1963 as a presenter and producer. He took part in the 1962 U.S. trade delegation in the Philippines, 1963 to Malaysia and Hong Kong. In 1957 he presided over the Advisory Committee of the Subcommittee on Consumers Study of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1964 he was in the third electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Steven Derounian on January 4, 1965. He was re-elected three times in a row. In 1972 he was a candidate in the sixth electoral district of New York for a Kongressitz. After a successful election, he resigned on 4 January 1973 the successor to Seymour Halpern. He was re-elected three times in a row. On his ninth nomination in 1980, he was defeated and retired after January 3, 1981 from the Congress of. As a Congressman he had presided over the Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control ( 94th to 96th Congress ).

Wolff has presided over the Pacific Community institutions since 1984. In addition, he has worked as a television commentator. He lives in Great Neck.
