Letitia Stevenson

Letitia Green Stevenson ( born January 8, 1843 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, † 25 December 1913 in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois) was the wife of Adlai E. Stevenson, the U.S. Vice President under Grover Cleveland and thereby Second Lady of the United states.

She was the daughter of Lewis Warner Green, a Reverend, and Mary Peachy Fry Green. Letitia Green married on December 20, 1866 Adlai E. Stevenson. The couple had 3 children together: two daughters and a son. She was one of the founders of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the President and published a book about the history of this association. Since she suffered from rheumatism, she was forced to wear again and again bandages on the feet. Nevertheless, she was described as "keen observer and judge of people, and a charming hostess".

She was buried in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington.
