Letov Å -4

The aircraft Letov Š -4 is a single-engine single-seat biplane was designed as a fighter. The first flight of the machine took place in 1922. The design resulted from Alois Smolik. The machine was made ​​of wood -metal hybrid construction. The machine only had a pilot's seat. The machine guns were fixed to the front.

The machine was very much like the SPAD S.XIII, but did not have those outstanding characteristics. Characteristics of both models was the round engine cowling.

From the standard version a total of 20 units were built and delivered to the Czecho- Slovak army. Of these 20, some caused directly as an advanced trainer aircraft Letov Š -4a. Because the pattern Letov Š -4 in action ultimately not satisfied, were gradually rebuilt after all the machines in training aircraft.
