Leuci
The Leuker (Latin Leuci ) were a Celtic tribe in what is now eastern France. In this heartland of La Tène culture they were neighbors of the Mediomatrici, Treverians, Triboci and Lingones.
On the Donon, a mountain in the Vosges in Alsace, there was a ( Mercurius ) sanctuary, which was a loose federation of tribes called for its protection and cult ( according to the classical Amphyktionie ). A interpretatio romana of the ( unknown ) divine founder tribal, or local deity as Mercurius would therefore be possible. In the middle of the place of worship, there was a 6.35 m deep funnel-shaped sacrificial pit, earlier than expected a hero 's grave.
Main places of Leuker were Tullum ( Toul ), measuring equipment and Nasium ( Naix -aux -Forges ).
The Leuker embossed coins, some specimens of the so-called Potinmünzen were found in Goldmünzschatz from bars and on Keltenwall Thunder Mountain.
