  • OMIM: 170 250

The leucine aminopeptidase (LAP ) is an enzyme hydrolyzed the protein metabolism, the L- amino acid amides and peptides as well as Aminoarylamide N -terminal. In humans, it is mainly in the intestine, kidney, bile, gastric juice, saliva and plasma before. The determination is performed by measuring the conversion of L -leucine -p- nitroanilide for p- nitroaniline. The leucine aminopeptidase is rarely determined. However, it is well suited for the differential diagnosis of elevated AP. If the LAP at elevated AP normal, a bone disease is likely. An increase in the LAP is found mainly in cholestasis, bile duct inflammation, tumors and pregnancy. Decreased levels can be observed in hypovolemia.

Values: Women: 16 - 32 U / l, men: 11 - 35 U / l (determined from 1 ml of serum)

Occurrence

The LAP is found in all living things, it has been demonstrated in a variety of bacteria, protozoa, fungi, plants and animals.
