Leudal

Leudal is a Dutch municipality in the province of Limburg with a total of about 37,000 inhabitants ( 2007). It was formed on 1 January 2007 from the merger of the municipalities Haelen, Heythuysen Hunsel and Roggel en Neer. The name of the new municipality has been derived from the nature reserve Leudal, which lies between the villages in the valley of the brook Leu.
The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Meuse opposite Roermond and the mouth of the river Rur. Based in part on the municipality is the recreation area Maasplassen.
