Leutzsch

Leutzsch is a district in the west of Leipzig.

History

The former rural community Leutzsch, part of the Amtshauptmannschaft Leipzig with more than 15,000 inhabitants and an area of 6.8 km ², was incorporated in 1922 to Leipzig.

It is a classic of Industrialists and working-class neighborhood in the west of Leipzig with partly abandoned industrial wasteland former VEB, and lord of Industrialists villas, built in Art Nouveau style, which were mainly built in park -like grounds, of which the villa of the case manufacturers Anton Mädler is the best known. Well-known contemporary inhabitants of the villa colony were the painter Bernhard Heisig and the conductor Kurt Masur.

In the immediate vicinity of the Leipzig floodplain forest ( Leutzscher wood) is the Auensee.

In addition, the Alfred - Kunze- Sportpark, 1964 home of the East German football champion, the home of the football clubs SG Sachsen Leipzig and BSG Chemie Leipzig dar. Both clubs are in addition to the 1 FC Locomotive Leipzig and RB Leipzig at the four major football clubs in Leipzig.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the lords of Leutzsch shows a lime tree with roots and crown, surrounded by two five-petalled roses. By 1890 there was municipal coat of arms. You can see there is still located at the entrance of the town hall Leutzscher.

Traffic

In the district of the station Leipzig -Leutzsch is on the railway line from Leipzig - Großkorbetha, as well as the railway station is the terminus of the railway line Merseburg and Leipzig.

As part of the reorganization of the S -Bahn service with the commissioning of the City Tunnel Leipzig Bahnhof Leipzig -Leutzsch in a net supplementary measure to the previous breakpoint Industriegelände West was merged into the new station at Georg- Schwarz -Strasse. The S -Bahn service was set up in December 2013, while the railway line RB 125 to Weissenfels uses the new breakpoint since 2012.

The tram line 7 crosses on the Georg-Schwarz -Strasse to the district from west to east. The tram line, which led to the old station since 1899, was replaced in 2001 by the Leipzig public transport operators through the bus 67. The tram depot at the former terminus of the line 27 is, however, continue to be used.

The bus line 80 tangent Leutzsch in the West.

For individual Böhlitz Ehrenberg is on the A9, exit Leipzig -West, and from there to reach the B 181 (Leipzig and Merseburg ).

Trade

Near the Town Hall Shopping Centre Leutzsch arcade was opened in 2004.

Culture

The former House of Culture of VEB paint and varnish factory in Leipzig is used by a fringe theater, the Theater-Fabrik -Sachsen since 2001 /2003.
